I have lived in Freeport for over 30 years. I live with my husband Bill. Both daughters Allison and Kelly Bickle are FHS graduates. I’m an avid outdoorsperson and use our parks almost daily by car, on foot, by bike, kayak or cross-country skis. I have a bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic and Outdoor Recreation with 40 years’ experience in the field of recreation.
I worked as Extended Services Supervisor for the Freeport Park District focusing on inclusive programming for all residents. I also coordinated many special events such as programming and trips for seniors, The Family Arts Fest and founded the popular Dad Daughter Candyland Ball.
I was a committee co-chair for the Kids Kastle building project, and later my career took me to a position as Recreation Therapist on the inpatient Behavior Medicine Unit at Rockford Memorial Hospital. I now have the time and desire to give back to my community in ways that matter to me. I would like to focus on strategic planning to maintain our beautiful parks and ensure our parks are enjoyed by even more of our community.
