Candidate for Alderman-at-Large
City Council Race

Joy Sellers

Each of us must rededicate ourselves to serving the common good. We are a community. Our individual fates are linked; our futures intertwined; and if we act in that knowledge and in that spirit together, as the Bible says: “We can move mountains.”
– Jimmy Carter
As a lifelong resident of Freeport and a Freeport High School graduate, Joy Sellers is a proud product of her community. She has worked at Honeywell for 25 years before leaving to work for Freeport School District as a Family Resource Coordinator. As an

After 13 years, Joy decided to use her creative skills to begin a new career in hand-crafted gift ideas for home and beauty. During this time, Joy began working part-time for the Boys and Girls Club as a Parent Specialist.
Throughout her lifetime, Joy has always had a deep seeded passion for serving her community. She has served on a number of past community-based committees including the Eastside Revitalization Committee and the Freeport High School Black Alumni as both a member for 25 years and president for seven years. She is running for her third term as Freeport Township Trustee, having served since 2013.
