Colton Havens is a lifelong Freeport resident, Freeport High School graduate, and a Highland Community College alumni. Over the years I contributed my time to grassroots organizing and non-profit organizations throughout the Chicagoland area. I moved back to Stephenson County to work for the U.S. Census Bureau in 2020 and now I am currently a licensed substitute teacher for Freeport School District #145.

I am an active member of the Stephenson County Farm Bureau, The Freeport Lions Club, Rebuilding Together- Stephenson County, and the Knights of Columbus.

My #1 priority will be to focus on addressing the challenge of the rapid enrollment decline and I will collaborate with the private sector, public sector, and non-profits throughout the Northwest Illinois Region. I will also work to bring State legislators from both sides of the aisle to the table and advocate to appropriate adequate funds for community colleges in Illinois. District 519 is represented by the House minority leader and an assistant minority leader in the Illinois Legislature.
